Tyre options for 18" rims on a D3

I thought the 265/60/18 Wildpeak sidewall was only rated to 111?

I've been running Mickey Thompson STZ 265/60/18's on my D4 for a number of years now with no issues. Recently need to replace two of them and found that MT no longer make this tyre.

So have now been running Toyo Open Country 265/60/18 A/T's for about 6 months and very happy with them. I also had the same tyres on my last work ute (HiLux) and never had an issue with them - and we used to take this thing through some pretty rough and rocky terrain. Local tyre dealers tell me that the Toyo Open Country is by far the most commonly sold A/T tyre in Kalgoorlie due to price and tyre life / lack of failures.

The Toyo Open Country Range of tyres get some pretty good reports on Tojo sites and forums.

Many use the muddies.

Was talked out of the Toyo’s apparently a bit dodgy in the wet so went the Falkens on the wife’s Amarok.

Have driven mine in the wet quite a bit lately. No problems with them at all. If there were any issues with them, I'm pretty sure that all the mining companies and contractors around here wouldn't be using them as their "preferred tyre".

It doesn't have a very high load rating in that size(265/60/18), as far as i can see from their site?

Lots of personal preference and bias when it comes to the never ending tyre debate. I admit I'm biased towards what's worked for me in the past and present.

Might be better off pooling together the results of who's had a bad run with what size/brand. So others know what to avoid, what doesn't work.

All well and good buying the cheapest set you can buy, but if they're rated to 110 (below OEM) instead of 114 or 120 and you overload your D3/D4 by even a bit (mines overloaded 200kg on long trips), you've largely increased your chances of a blow out on corrugations, no matter what brand you buy.
