D4 - are all Aus delivered models air suspension?

I had a base spec 2.7 TDV6 which was specced up with 7 seats and leather. But even the base spec 5 seater with cloth seats would have had air suspension. Here's a link to a 2010 brochure - 2010 D4 Brochure - see technical specifications section.

As I understand it, dealers need to purchase cars from LR to put on their forecourts and it is the dealers that work out the specs of the cars they think will sell. Which is why the majority of D4 they ordered would have had 7 seats as it makes the car more versatile. Same is true for the D5, like Arapiles says if you want a 5 seater you have to spec and order one yourself.

Whether we call it 'no badge', 'S' or TDV6 we are referring to the same vehicle - the cheapest, entry level base model, pov pack...
As you've pointed out, unlike the Discovery 3, these entry models don't have an 'S' badge actually on the vehicle. I haven't seen any reference in literature to it being called 'S' spec. It is referred to as 'TDV6' on RedBook and Carsales which usually take the manufacturers naming conventions - hence why I used that. But it matters not so long as we know we are referring to the same spec/trim level.

While I don't know if the 3.0L TDV6 that replaced the 2.7L TDV6 was detuned or not, you are correct that it replaced it and was not an optional upgrade in earlier variants - my mistake above. So the point still remains that the spec/trim level determined the engine you received.

So:
S/no badge/TDV6/pov pack - received the 2.7L TDV6 up to MY2012 and then 3.0L TDV6 (detuned?) MY2013 onwards - as such late (Dec?) 2012 delivered vehicles will have the newer engine as they had been changed over.
SE/HSE - 3.0L motor - sometimes badged as TDV6 other times SDV6.
V8 - top of the range, most expensive with the 5.0L petrol V8.

And it seems that the consensus is that all came with air suspension...

TDV6 3.0l that replaced 2.7l was definitely detuned.MY13 onwards,with 8 speed auto,6 speed was dropped.

The higher spec 3.0l became SDV6,with 8 speed auto around the same time.

Is it just detuned or is it different in some key parts? i.e. is it just the ECU map tuning that differentiates the pair or is it also different turbo's etc also seperatigtt them?

Mapping,and tuning is different,and from memory one turbo.

Stock it had similar power and torque to a tuned 2.7l.

The 3.0s (low power and high power) are all Sequential Turbos, so 2 turbos.

Yes, I think you're probably right - so, the owner of the car I saw would've had to order it from the factory with the coils.

Possibly, but my recollection is that he said in the ad that he'd ordered it like that.
