The exhaust gas travels through the coolers before getting to the EGR. They are bolted together.

The other end of the cooler is bolted to the exhaust manifold.

Removing then also deletes coolant pipelines associated with the cooler which is a shell and tube style cooler.

So are the coolant fittings that go to the EGR coolers just blanked off or do you connect the in and out with a hose so it can still flow through?

In another post it was discussed further with schematics. I’ve not done it. Others have.

The pipe work can be deleted completely removing a lot of spaghetti.

Brilliant, thanks. I’ll do some digging and try to find the other post with the details.

EDIT: found a good guide on fitting the blanking kit at https://secure.bellautoservices.co.u...-MY06-TDV6.pdf

Found this thread which has some discussion on removing the EGR coolers.

The EGRs were blanked when I bought mine. Later I was told the coolers were corroded/ing so they were removed.

Probably a question best asked to BAS. Let us know the answer though.

So this is for pre 2013 D4 with the 2.7 tdv6. Does anyone know if the 3.0SDV6 can have the same EGR blanking plates done? I realise it also needs an ECU mod or emulators.

Thinking about taking all the EGR hardware off...

I have blanked off the egrs with a D3/D4 blank kit.
And re flashed the ECU to remove the EGR using the BAS egr patch.
Patch worked as expected, and was easy using the IID BT

results. more power, and better initial acceleration from a start. just seems more urgent in acceleration.
