I hate it when an orange ! pops up on my screen as it makes you think something is going to fail and you'll be left stranded and die on the side of the road when in fact the windscreen washer bottle is getting empty. Why don't the designers just put a message on the screen and tell you straight out what's wrong?
As others have said, use the right button on the steering wheel to find the "Show Warnings" function... and then fill up your washer bottle!
It does actually display the message. The problem is that it doesn't stay on for very long. The first time the low water bottle warning happened to me I wondered what the hell was going on. I didn't know about the steering wheel option at the time.Quote:

Mine displays every MSG, ie water low, fuel low, as an actual written MSG ,, until you press "OK" on the wheel. It also flashes until thats done. The seat belt "chimes" and flashes red,,, bloody annoying.
MSG's like "Low Oil" come up as a written MSG as well, and I cant remember if it went off with the button or not. Thats happened twice now, on blistering hot days. First time Leeanne was driving and she just pulled straight over and turned it off [thumbsupbig]. Started it back up after a call to me, and drove it home (about 2 clicks), checked and all good. Two days later, same thing happened to me about 5 clicks from home, so I'm sure I just hit the button and kept going. Nothing wrong though,, either time, and strangely enough, during the same time period the Airbag light started coming on. Its on permanently now and will see something in the steering wheel be replaced shortly ($450).
As far as fuel goes, it'll also come up on the center screen that you need to find a fuel station,, in a hurry,, [bigwhistle]
Regarding fuel, my understanding (of the diesels anyway) is that if you run the tank dry, it will take up to 15l of diesel to re prime the fuel system including LP and HP fuel pumps, fuel rail and injectors. It is also not ideal for the fuel pump seals etc. This is one of the limits of the D4 in the useable fuel tank capacity being fairly low.
I had this twice just recently. Orange triangle...once was due to low washer fluid and second time the dreaded restricted performance. The latter I am just learning to live with until some competent mechanic and not a stealer can diagnose properly due to process of elimination and $$$associated with this approach.[bigsad]Quote:
