Transmission seems tight when decelerating

To rephrase, is the transmission in lockup when this is happening?

also, if driven normally the transmission rarely uses first gear. Normal start stop driving will use 2nd to move off,(saves fuel) Only in manual mode or in low range will it use 1st to get the most benefit of the torque converter lock-in up nice and early.

Oh, I wasn't aware that 1st is only used in low or manual mode, mine uses 1st every time I take off. It's booked in on Thursday for a service which will include replacing all oils, hoping a change in transmission fluid makes a difference.

Not sure what u mean "transmission in lockup" but I did jack it up th other day and spun th wheels and seemed all OK as I was also thinking it may be th handbrake sticking

Mine does this - adaptive transmission is my bet. When I drive like an old man with my foot on the brake on a long downhill grade (any speed), I can eventually take my foot off the brake and the car seems to know i want to maintain that speed and will retard any up change in the gears. Wife's VW polo DSG does it even more at my favourite long downhill 80km/h country road i travel every day. Drive like a maniac for a few hours and you will find the car will mimic this for a while too. I say "normal".
