Can you explain this further please. How can substituting a nut or bolt cause an air bag to go off?

Say the correct bolt is a 10.9 and you fit a 4.6, the lower grade bolt could shear affecting the way the vehicle senses the crash impact, possibly altering when the airbags are triggered. The same could apply if the incorrect diameter bolts are fitted.
The lines of ARB, OL, TJM etc specify the bolt sizes and strengths for a reason.
