Installing standard (short) roof rails - instructions?

So, I've spent the last hour searching online for fitting instructions for my recently acquired standard (short) roof rails.
They're the genuine part, purchased from a fellow member here on the forum.

Perhaps my Google-fu isn't what it used to be, but all I can find is videos or instruction sheets for extended rails.

Before I muck it all up completely, does anyone have instructions for the standard/short rails?
Or can I assume that the instructions are in fact the same as the extended rails?

Specifically, that I need to cut the channel strip down to size (and not worry about the 19mm clearance hole because that's just for extended rails)?

    Frustrated, on a Sunday night!

The attached document above is the instructions for fitting the short rails.

I found this is a useful video even if it concentrates on the long rails it gives an idea.

    YouTube

Some say to carefully "tap" the roof holes a bit as they may have some gunk in them (I didn't do this as I wasn't aware at the time). I put masking tape around the plugs prior to removing them as the rubber covering the channel strips was fairly easy to scratch. I also found that spinning out the christmas tree plugs out worked best for me.

As a novice, I found it a fairly easy job to do but measured loads of times before cutting the metal roof channel strip with a fine hacksaw.

If you search Aulro at the bottom for "roof rail bolts" or similar you will find extra info and some issues e.g.

    Hope this helps. Peter

Thanks, Peter, that's precisely the fitting doc I was looking for. I managed to find everything else.

I've watched the Powerful UK video a couple of times, and was pretty sure it's mostly the same process. I wanted to be absolutely sure.

    Measure twice, cut once.

    Very helpful, thank you!

Where they pull out the plugs in the video. Mine were threaded (2008 D3) as I discovered after trying to pop one out and snapped it off.

I suspect my later model is pop-out, but you never know.
I'll try slotting them and unscrewing, otherwise a fine drill will be on hand.
    And an M6 tap!

So, I fitted the short rails today. A pretty straightforward job in the end.
I managed to snap one plug, and had to muck about drilling it out.
The first one I did, I slotted it and unscrewed it easy. But then I wanted to keep at least two to put them back, which meant the slot would be unacceptable.
I came up with this ...

Trim tool to get under it

Long-nosed pliers to get hold of it, and start unscrewing

    Keep going ...

    Easy!

Then I washed out and cleaned the channels, cut the strips, tapped the holes (easy, too) and all done inside two hours. The longest bit was having to drill out the snapped one, but once I mastered the method above, it was very quick.

Photos of the finished job? I hear you ask.
I forgot! I was busy with a cold beer and congratulating myself on a job well done!
