Brake pads - I'm an absolute mug

Just had the front brake pads changed at my local indy today. Slugged me an eye-watering $374 for the parts, which they sourced from Rovacraft "at no mark-up" I'm told.

Had I been a little more diligent, I would have bought the damn things online for $85 + $16 delivery from fleabay here: https://www.ebay.com.au/i/172618778373?chn=ps

A lesson learned - do some research first.

Greg is yours a 3.0? Those pads are 2.7 ones, very different and whole lot cheaper than the 3.0 ones.
And NO WAY IN HELL I'd fit $80 allmakes pads to my or anyone else's vehicle, either. They probably did you a favour by fitting Genuine ones, and yes they are exxy but aren't you about to go towing and touring???

Thanks Justin, you've made me feel less of a mug. Or, a different kind of mug for not checking 2.7 or 3.0 on the ebay ones. Yes, mine's a 3.0, and yes I'm about to go on a long trip towing.

I recall an ad on another forum a while back

    Genuine OEM rotors, $400 Ea,
Genuine OEM pads, $375 per pair
Genuine OEM Caliper pistons and seals $250 a set

    Knowing your brakes aren't XXXXXX

    Priceless.
