Remarkable economy in the D4 (towing)

No offence was intended, apologies if it’s come over that way. I don’t want to get kicked out of the D4 section before I’ve bought one! I’m just going on the data collected over the last 98 fill ups!. I have an MSU ECU with a 15p engine and I have wondered many ties if I should remap it with a NNN map. But never enough to want to spend $800 on the process

The 8 spd here is one of the key economy reasons. Today I did 250km to the east coast town of Triabunna and then down to Rheban beach near Orford. The whole trip netted me 9.4/100. That's 30mpg in the old days. Totally remarkable in my opinion.

None taken , so has the vehicle had the engine replaced with a 15p or is it a d2a and had the ecu replaced with a MSB?.
Have you increased the odo reading by the 5.5% of the larger diameter tyres in your fuel calcs ?
Agree a lot of the great consumption is down to the 8 speed

1st part- previous owner put in a low km 15p after the 10p died. I bought a 2nd hand TRS remap. A ‘Di Hunter Speedo Correction box to the 2nd, although looking back through the spreadsheet I’ve always gotten about 13/100 when using it as a shopping cart.

For what its worth, I have towed my 6.7 M boat/trailer which weighs 2,600 kg some 22,000 km in the last 12 mths, with my 2015 Discovery. I sit on the speed limit (100, 110, and 130 kph in Qld and the NT). On a flat road at 100 kph the Disco is loping along on 1800 rpm.

Average fuel consumption has been 17.5 L/100 km.

Just returned from a trip around western Queensland towing a 3.2ton off rooad van with our 2002 TD5 Defender averaging 14 lt/100km at 90-95 km/h, so speed is the main factor in fuel consumption when towing.
