My easy cure to keep the shudder at bay was to keep the rpms above 2000 by driving in sports mode and manually changed down when the shudder was felt.

Seems odd you are only experiencing it at 90km/h going uphill.
Yep. Exactly the same for me. Above 2000 rpm all good. Using command shift to stay above 2000rpm keeps the shudder at bay but booking in for a new TC next week. Bought a boat getting close to 3 tonne so most probably a good time to do it before I start towing.

Typical quotes for a steel sump change and megaflush are around $900 and about $600 for just the flush but may be a lot higher if the mech/tech is paying LR prices for LG6.
Oops, yes 101RRS you are right, the value was for a steel pan upgrade, new filter, gasket and new LG6 fluid fill plus flush, done at a reputable indie here in Perth.

UPDATE - NO MORE SHUDDER !!!

    Afternoon all,

I just wanted to give you an update - we engaged a local Auto specialist to undertake a "mega flush" and full inspection. The mechanic completed the flush, and we also opted to change to a metal sump to make future oil changes simpler.

We took the Disco on a decent 2hr highway run this afternoon and there is now no shudder at all. The mechanic told us this was a very common issue, and as we had caught the issue early there was very little chance of any damage being caused.

So despite some on here suggesting immediately replacing the TC, or even rebuilding the entire gearbox, a simple flush and she is good as new. We will now undertake trans oil changes with every service.

Hope this help others out there!

That is a great outcome! I have a similar one this week that responded exactly the same way. After a further 20,000km it is ever so slightly shuddering again. I will be dropping the pan for an inspection this week, I suspect that there will finally be some evidence of TC clutch failure, ( the overall km this car has done is 240k+), however I will report back after the investigation.

    Excellent outcome.

May pay to work on your comprehension skills as nobody told you to replace the TC right away.

Good news. Looking forward to future progress report and definitely every 80,000km is ok for the oil change otherwise each service will be very expensive and pointless.

Changing to a metal sump does not make oil changes simpler - the oil change process is the same with both types of sumps.

The advantage relates to changing the oil filter. With the plastic sump, the filter is integral with the sump and the sump is destroyed when it is removed with the engine, gearbox etc in place and the new one cannot be installed without moving assemblies around. With the metal sump the oil filter is separate (you still have to remove the sump to get at it) and the sump and filter can be removed and reinstalled without moving anything else. This applies to the TDV6 - things may be different in the petrol V6 and V8s.

I think you need to work on your social skills my friend - and perhaps your reading skills. Take the time and go back to the start of this thread and yo will very clearly see the suggestion that we were up for a new TC, and probably a rebuilt GB.

Well I guess we are the lucky 10% then as the mega flush has solved our shudder - something which is extremely common issue and fix according to our Auto trans Mechanic with over 40 years in the game. Perhaps i'll stick to consulting the professionals in future as you advice would have potentially cost me $$ thousands!!

Clearly this is a simpler process then, is it not??
