In the overall scheme of things, probably not a lot of $ - after all we budgeted about $7k for fuel at 17 L/100 km and $2.50/L, and 20 L/100 km is not all that much more, but I do like the occasional bevvy, and we are also hoping to spend a bit in the ravaged NW of Qld. But we are also retired and about to hit the access to pension threshold, so need to watch the pennies a wee bit.

All I can say is I was not the prime architect in the purchase of The Brick - happy wife = ???? But I do have to admit to liking the front opening walk through section which creates a 6 foot veranda over the A frame to sit in and enjoy watching the world go by - beats setting up the side awning!
I was curious, so I found this info on nosecones:

Makes me wonder, if you are planning on keeping the brick for years that maybe a nose one might be a good idea.

Got a couple of mates in TEG who'd disagree, but it's all "handwavingly anecdotal". Maybe I've been lucky, but my speedo is hellishly bang on, so between that and the word of people who set the devices, I doubt it. I'd better rub that rabbits foot some more just in case.

Remember vehicles pre-2006 have a mandated speedo accuracy of +/- 10%. We have a _lot_ of them on our road. Hell, I have 4 of them (2 cars, 2 bikes) in my driveway.
As stated previously, the -0/+10% was only introduced in ADR18. And yeah, I've been to court and won (although that was fairly well pre ADR18 and the detection unit in question was an uncalibrated K-band handheld RADAR).

Someone show me a fine of 3kph over the limit in WA. I bet you can’t find one no matter how hard you try. My last was 7kph over. I’ve not had less but will concede when I see it More Towing Fuel Economy with the 2.7L

If the detected speed is 107 then less the usual 3kph tolerance and we're at 104 so unlikely to get pinged.

    x2 Gavin’s comment, a few years back I got done for 54kph on a 50 zone.

most annoying as I was following my lady friend and she didn’t get pinged.

    cheers

Thanks for the thought John. It doesn't show up all that well, but it actually already has a fibreglass minimalist nose cone which becomes the veranda roof, but given the various circumstances, I'll just live with what we have.
Google Royal Flair Piazza for some good pics.
    Cheers

With 40 years in WA state government transport management and a mate who used to run the camera operators, I'll play safe and stick to the 3 kmph leeway.

If TEG is tactical emergency group, they are very good at what they do, but travelling within the speed limit is not really their thing

So, out of interest, how does this economy compare to your D2 Td5 towing the same rig?

I was thinking of TRG, thinking they must have changed their name since I got out and retired.

there are of course 2 elements of speed cameras, being the actual operators who set the caught you "alarm" point as instructed, and then the POs who actually decide whether to prosecute (via infringement or more draconian measures).
