Nope, checked these also

I’m not really experienced with USB, but when I put the probe into the USB I’m not getting anything. I don’t actually know how many volts feeds a USB, so I don’t know if a bit under 2v is normal or not.

Thoughts?

This is above my pay grade, but I assume the usb voltage will be the standard 5v. Remember, this will be with ignition ON. Your 2v reading may be residual voltage but I'm way out of my depth here.
My thinking, seeing that both the iPod and USB circuits aren't inputting sound into your system, is that there's a problem with the head unit.

USB power voltage is 5V. Signalling voltage is differential +/- 200mV, but you need to pull one of the signal lines to ~2.8-3.2V with pull up and pull down resistors for speed determination from memory. It's been a while since I got into the hardware. Anyway, without a solid 5V on that connector somewhere, something is certainly wrong.

Most USB power sources have self-resetting electronic fuses (or current limiters) to prevent things dying when your 3 year old pushes a foil lolly wrapper into the socket.

Turns out that the USBs on the rear of the centre console don’t work either. Something’s definitely not right.

Any suggestions?

Follow the loom - May have been just unplugged and not refitted.

I assume they were they working previously?

If so then it has to be a loose wire or connection somewhere.

Ive recently fitted USB to the rear of the centre console (replacing the SE spec level 12v socket) as well as adding USBs to the rear left parcel shelf. I found that the "aux in" 3.5mm pin socket module in the centre console was loose and the connector to the std 12v socket not 100% engaged.

Check the earth stud inside the rear passenger side panel right next to the rear light assembly too.

Agreed. I think it’s a loose wire also. This is a new car for me, having come from a D2, I’m still learning where things are. I’m assuming the wiring loom goes from the cubby forwards along the trans tunnel towards the dash? I’ll check the earth stud. You could be on to something. Someone has fit a led trailer adapter inside the passenger rear compartment. Maybe they disconnected the earth to the USBs?
