Yes, a similar standard size in 19”.
But I probably would buy 2 x 18” spares anyway and rotate them through, as not as easy to find a spare off the east coast as the Prado/Pajero standard 265/60/18 size.
I don’t understand why this popular size 18” 4WD tyre generally has such a modest load rating.
If you go D697 Dueller or AT3W Falken you’ll get a 114 rating.
Personally I would never run a 110 rated tyre on a D3 upwards.
So many variables but 285’s are just to wide other issues like rolling resistance etc etc. it also increases torsional load on CV axles etc hence the engineers at landrover design and manage by strict tyre width and rim offset. I run LT 265/65 18 ko2 and NEVER experience any clearance issue or a single puncture. I’m sure it will come though. But there is a LT 265/6018 that is probably just as good and easier to get the spare under. So yes 10 mm over but within a good safety margin I hope.Quote:

if you not heading too remote put any AT on you like. Pirelli or anything. My AT3 grabbers were great but when you hundreds of klms from anywhere in harsh conditions anything but a solid LT load rated tyre is asking for trouble. Most AT tyres are NOT light truck rated just marginally more robust and chunkier tread. Which is perfect for many and with benefit if being much quieter. Quiet is totally irrelevant once your off the bitumen though.
Perhaps the best compromise just might be the LT 19 maxxis if you are stuck with 19” rims.

285s are not an option for me as the spare won’t fit in the factory location, and just raises vehicle a bit too much all the time IMHO. If I’m in a situation where I need a suspension lift I can push a button. [emoji3]
I will be going with one of the three 18” tyre options.
I doubt that 265/65R18 will fit in the spare wheel well low enough for the floor to not sit on the tyre. I trimmed the left plastic side cover to get my 275/55R20 into the well but it doesn't sit on the bottom because the diameter is too big. My floor sits on full length 50mm sponge blocks around the edges and on the tyre itself.
My 265/60/18 fits in the wheel well ok, so I assumed the 265/65/18 would be the same height when laying down, only the tyre diameter was a bit bigger. I might need to check that.

The tyre fits between the side box sections but doesn't sit down in the well. It also just fits between the rear box section and the jack at the front but there is no room to remove or install the jack with the tyre in place. I renewed my experience tonight refitting the spare but had to remove the wheel again to put the jack in its holder first then drop the wheel straight down. I have blocks under the tyre to prevent it becoming wedged in the well.
I'm told that 31" (eg 255/55R20) fits and allows the floor to sit properly but the range of tyres is very limited and then only the same sidewall height as 255/55R19 which has a marginally better tyre range but a far better range in 18" in either 255/60 or 265/60.
Is that true? Will a 285/60R18 not fit under the car as a spare, even if deflated? (Yes, I have a permanent onboard compressor)Quote:
