Rule #1 Always stop where it’s firm or downhill.
Front part near beach yes back part is powder cliffs and churned up tracks but yes very safe place for first timers.

Partial A/T fluid change as per Robbie's guide @ 141500km before we head off on a 6 month trip.
Drained 4400g and 4550g back in, but a little more oil used overall accounting for a small bit of spillage. Had to wait overnight to allow the oil to cool down to do the final level check.
A big thing from my experience is letting it drain overnight as well, it just seems to drip for quite a while so it gives the best partial drain outcome.

A tad different to yours. Wet has eased off and Dry is not yet here so I gave the D3 air con a work out today.

Fitted a A.B.R. duel battery monitor to the D4 today, fits quite nicely on the flat section to the left of the instrument panel. I think they are necessary to monitor the 2 nd battery, to check that is being charged, Got one on the puma and found it very good when travelling.

Yes did that, thanks for the clarification loanrangie, it's not until someone else reads the posts that you then realise the ambiguity of things you say at times. It was a warm day here, 33 deg I think, I had a bit of a late start and after getting the oil to 69 deg (well 70 actually) it took a while to drop so I just left it for the night. Warmed it up the next morning before the final check and it surprised me that it was still at 26 when I went out in the morning. Us retired people have a more relaxed schedule to these things[biggrin], well...........sometimes anyway :BigThumb:
Well. Today I took the D4 out for a run with all the new goodies.
Holy Crap! This thing hauls now. [emoji41]
I was so happy I treated it to a new UHF antenna [emoji41]
New steering wheel feels great to hand - although the left thumb grip is a little superfluous at the moment. [emoji16]
Today’s goodies included a few switches, the new head unit, and some other bits for the next phase.
