What happened to your D3/D4 today?

Well attacked the rear upper and lower arms over the last day and a half, not the easiest job and proof these cars are designed around body off. I have done far worse jobs when I was an marine engineer but as far as jobs on the D3 go this 1 is up there, only because of lack of room and things like the suspension compressor and exhaust pipes that are just in the way enough so you can’t feed bolts in without moving them out of the way.

Wheel alignment Monday , and hopefully the next time the rear arms need doing it won’t be my car .

Picked it up yesterday after getting the inlet manifolds replaced. Drivers side one cracked and got both replaced at the same time. Glad i did as the mechanic said the other one looked on the way out as well. A hit to the wallet but driving home I kept thinking to myself, " This car is SO nice to drive"

Attachment 177270Fitted bushwrapz today. Self healing paint protection film. It is surprisingly thick. I had a go at scratching it with a wire brush, then pouring boiling water over it and it actually worked.

Interesting. Their website only lists the Defender. Got any more info?

So up to this point I have been using the “bushbarrier” Magnet protection. It certainly does work amazingly well for even the hardest of bush scratches. However I have noticed after about two years of using them, it is marring my paint a bit. Also with the bush barriers you are not supposed to leave them on for more than a couple of days, in fact bushbarriers themselves suggest taking them off and cleaning them every day. Which is ridiculous. I have left them on sometimes for up to 2 weeks on big trips, when you go to remove them it does feel like they are sticking to my paint. So what I have done is buy the bush wraps in a five meter roll, and use my bushbarriers as a template. We’re not talking laser cut precision lines here, but more than acceptable.

Looks good, did you use Cape or Advance? I presume this is not intended to be applied for each trip instead it should last 2-5 years given the price. Any concerns about pressure washing the car and the film coming off?

This is the 10 year “advance” apparently it is fine to pressure wash, however I will just be a little more careful.

Gurus,

Did recent work to turbo pipe work necessitating remove of upper control arm and deflation of corners. On rebuild used GAP tool to reset all faults and reactivate EAS and do a calibration of all corners.

Now have persistent faults reoccurring for Normal Height Only message. I’m doubtful the recently serviced (2years) compressor has miraculously died at same time. Do the other faults hide the clue of what’s going on or do I need to rebuild compressor again??

Have double checked LHF ride height sensor connected and undamaged.

Your not the only one getting pressure increases too slow after suspension work[bighmmm]

I changed out my upper arms and got a fault which I cant remember what the code was but it lit the dash up and suspension went into access height. When I took it to get wheel alignment they put there code reader on it and determined it was steering angle sensor.

Not sure if it's your problem but I never had that fault before I touched the upper arms.
