So getting ready to replace the front drive side wheel bearing (nice and easy) and psyching myself up to replace the oil cooler and water outlet, water connection on the side of the side of the block for good measure and flush, flush, flush, maybe flush again and then fit a new expansion tank.
Then make 4 heat treat furnaces for local knife makers to heat treat their blades [smilebigeye]
Today… early end to the workday…
Jump in the D4, quick trip by home to pick up Mrs Tombie and then off to Port Lincoln for a Japanese inspired dinner at Peter Teakle wines.
Seated at 17:30, left the winery at 19:30 and just home at 22:30
580 round trip for dinner!!!! Love it..

130k service today at the Indy. During the process diagnosed with a dead Optima.
So new project to install the HVT70LD started..and a few Bluetooth battery monitors.
Whilst cleaning up a bit around the battery tray (to make some space), I note the 2 connectors below. Both trace a negative back to the earth point near the Aux battery….so I’m thinking they are redundant power points for something. I’m tempted to cut them back…anyone else know for sure?

Friday night was front brakes, caliper seals, rotors and pads.. Wheel bearings, sway bar rubbers.
Bought rack rods and ends, movement was all in the lower steering column.. Which locked up after being under water at Fraser island, changed it last week with an "OEM" be the last time I user oem anything, steering wheel is off Center something rude, quality is junk. Then they wanted photos so I had to pull it out again to send them.. wheel is so far offi had to calibrate the steering sensor to stop fault codes.
Today was rear wheel bearings, pads, rotors, shoes, sway bar rubbers.
The akebono pads were only half worn. But have cracks through them and I was getting a shudder under brakes which is gone..I also have more bite which I was missing. They are great that they don't squeal or dust.. But I miss the genuine bite.
Anyway.. Hopefully the birthday love buys me some enjoyment

I’ve been on Akebono pads for a very very long time now and I’m not sure if they are ever going to wear out.
It got used as intended: took 3 children and 2 dogs to the creek: whilst there, a thunderstorm hit, and they came back soaked and muddy. Full marks to the supertrim seat covers and the OEM rubber floor mats. Once it's all dry, I'll brush off and it'll be good as new. Love the mixture of luxury and functionality...

You mean tie rods as steering arms? I ordered a set of trw but turns out no movement at all in mine. Just the column. So there on the shelf now. I would just change at home and measure the arm length.. we used to always do that on buses and then take to wheel alignment shop when we could..
I'm on Bosch euro pads today. I went round and did the gap tool brake bleeding with my son.. It failed everytime, at the third wheel the ABS pump would start screaming and the pedal was rock hard. Anyway after 3 attempts the pedal feels heaps better and the bite is better too.. Not bagging the akebono pads in any way. But they kept developing a shudder that the LR pads never did.
I've been trialling a "I check tpms" system over the last two months. We'll not trialling, I bought it. Been really impressed with it. Works great with our camper trailer aswell without a repeater, but I am not happy with the temperature read out, feels more ambient then true tyre temperature, is anyone getting any better reading from a external screw on type?
Common sense said it wouldn't work, but everyone else is happy with them. I don't really need to monitor tyre temps as pressures indicate it. But because I have the function I kinda want to
