Replaced the sheet steel centre cover that came with my ARB bullbar with an APT front guard. 2 bends in the ARB side covers allowed the APT guard to sit high enough with spacers about half the length that APT supply. APT supply conical head bolts that I was able to use. No impact on arrival angle.

The valve body separator plate i ordered last week finally turned up today so took a sickie and rebuilt the valve body and fitted it back onto the trans, did a flush then went for test drive and very happy with the results.
Before if i was at standing start and didn't very gently take off it would almost stop then the revs would rise and then after about 5 seconds it would clunk into gear and when coasting between 50-60 klms it would gently shunt then fault and into limp mode.
I still need to reset the adaptions so hopefully that will take care of the small clunks i still have, nearly 1k all in well worth it.
When I changed my oil pump I also changed to a Ryco oil filter as that was available locally from Repco.
At the time I noticed how well the Ryco filter fitted.
Since changing these items the speed of the oil light going out was noticeably improved. I put that all on the oil pump.
At the next oil change I had a spare unknown brand filter sitting in my spares box which was delivered as part of the new oil cooler assembly. Due to timing I used that.
The difference between this filter and the Ryco was noticeable in how loosely the “plug” fitted compared to the Ryco. I’ve seen this difference in plug diameter mentioned previously and it set off an alert in my mind.
Since changing the oil I’ve noticed again a lengthening in the time for the oil light to turn off. So much so I’ve changed back to Ryco. On installing the Ryco you really need to use pressure to seat the plug.
Makes sense if the loose plug allows more oil to sink back into the sump overnight. I’ve no doubt there could be no leak past the Ryco.
I’ll stick with them now. At $41 not a bad price either.
Measure the spigot o-ring OD. If around 10.8mm they fit loose. Genuine Ford filters have an OD around 11.1mm and fit much tighter.
Never measured the Ryco filter but by all accounts they are also a tight fit.
I have had Mahle filters vary by 0.3mm - so always watch out for this now after people reported problems with some TDV6 filter brands on the Russian LR forum and Aussie Ford forum.
By eyeball the Ryco diameter was bigger. The other one’s o ring was loose fitting by comparison.Quote:

Internally the oil level will fall to the height of the spear inside the filter on the supply side. The difference is the time to fill the entire housing if the oil can flow back lower than this level. Once you’ve had the quick light out there’s no going back.
I also recently bought a Ryco fuel filter which was excellent also. You pay well for these ones around $100.
Have been buying for other vehicles and find them always to be good.
Which part number is the Ryco fuel filter ? i emailed Ryco as i couldnt find a suitable filter and they gave me Z1116 for my EURO4 D3 which no stores seem to stock but can be bought off ebay or sparesbox for $62.Quote:

Yes the Ryco fuel filter is harder to lay hands on. Repco stock the early version.
It’s definitely excellent quality and fit like the oil filter.
Veale is always good for parts also.
Same deal I changed my oil cooler over a year ago and it came with a filter and new black cap. I stayed with the original cap and this filter always seemed not quite right so I left it in the box.Quote:
