Thing is it isn’t just a LR thing. Old Holdens and Fords were cooked aplenty due to failing thermostat housings over the years!

But not when they're so sprightly.
I do admire how many miles can be accumulated on an abused and unmaintained Red motor and they still come bak for more.
e.g. Scary's story of driving a 186 without oil or consequence. Try that in anything manufactured this century.
Got past the valley of despair getting the oil separator and oil cooler out. Watched Shane’s YouTube video half a dozen times and then just went with the brute force shove, twist and pull to get the oil separator to come out.

Back in those days they had a well sized red Temp overheat light that did work if they got a bit hot.Probably better than some of the temp guages in modern vehicles.
And those that had a temp guage,it worked well, crept up before the engine was too hot and ruined...
That big red light only worked if they got hot.
If they dumped coolant they just ground to a halt.
We killed enough 186/202/208*/253 and 308 Holdens and our fair share of 250s, 302s and 351s Fords back in the day.
Got real good on the red pulling those damn side cover plates off.
Anything modern - tighter tolerance, much higher std output is going to dislike being heated too much.
Slack old tolerance motors were far more tolerant of abuse.
Looked at the roof, touched the paint and this happened [emoji24]

So back to LR for warranty?[bigrolf]
And it’s a wrap - literally. All back together and running. Took the time to remove all the brittle wiring harness plastic tubing and re-wrapped with cloth tape.
