Coming back on a nice country road not to far from Cobdem (vic) Cruising at the speed limit just after a very good feed of blackberries. A ute coming the other way quickly pulled off the road. Normally such a issue except the road there had a ditch drop off off about 2 meters. The ute skidded along on at least 45 degree angle in front of me at high speed. The gent driving was incredibly lucky not to roll over. I pulled up and went back to find Rod, a chippy smiling in his car. I had suspected a heart attack so happy to find him alive.
Another gent pulled up. Asked Rod if he had a recovery point on the front. He thought not. Happily found one easily. Recovery gear was in the back of my car. My broken leg and two crutches was glad the other gent could hook up my recovery strap. He had a running watch on and has run two marathons so we got very distracted chatting about running
Rod seemed to be in a bit of shock so chatting for ten minutes seemed a good idea. Towed him out in a few seconds and got moving again. A few hours later hit a closed westgate freeway. The slow road home took a bit longer.
Well, I thought I posted the below text into this thread, but I mustn't have been paying attention. Anyway, I'll repost it here
Installed a secondhand instrument cluster today. Had some canbus related faults the same as what I got a couple of years ago(for those who remember). Decided that the previous repair only held up for 50 odd thousand km and I didn't want to have the disco off the road waiting for it to get repaired again, so went with another cluster. Done the change with the aid of my IID tool. Only issue with this method is if your existing cluster is over 265,000km then the odometer cannot be synced and updated to the existing mileage. It's a bug in the IPC according to Pat from gap diagnostic

Sorry, should have explained that better - yes I did post it, but it was in the wrong thread. It was originally intended to be posted into this thread but I somehow stuffed it up.
