First thing they check on a roadworthy is the vehicles lights, the slightest crack and its knocked back.

    New duraprene gasket and filter.
Two valve body separator plates so I have the one I need once I have it apart without order delay.
Gen2 zip kit, mechatronic seal and the other internal foam seals.

Hoping it is worth it. Will do that next month.
    Dont forget:
-Anti static wrist strap (to not brick the mechatronic unit with a static discharge)
    -Parts cleaner
    -Lint free rags
-Rubber mechanics gloves(parts cleaner loves eating your skin)
    -Multimeter to check the solenoids
-Cling wrap (for the vbody parts once cleaned before you can put it all back together)
-The diagram you get with the zip kit
    -Patience

My rear offside taillight was damaged (cracked and pushed in slightly) when I backed into a handrail that was inside a shrub. I simply applied some clear glue to seal it mainly and it was good to go. Don't really notice it unless you're close. I can live with it and save the dollars.

My long time local mechanic said that so long as there was no white light emitting from the red part it was OK.

I'm in NSW so it may be different here.

I presumed the vehicle was repaired after it was purchased,so the roadworthy was done while the vehicle was damaged.

Yes razor could be handy at times

What’s that black circle on your high level brake light?

What happened to your D3/D4 today?

Aside from my post regarding the stupid intake elbow, this became apparent when I was swapping out the accessory belt idler pulley and tensioner pulleys. Simple swap with nothing wrong with my old ones - but age. Proactive maintenance.

Also had a go at replacing my high mount brake light. It wasn’t too bad but I didn’t like the cracks etc. Well that’s a **** of a job. Yep, smashing is the best approach to removing the old one. You then spend another hour cleaning up silicone so you can apply a **** tonne in the hope of making a nice seal (and then you still aren’t sure if you used enough and it’ll be leak free). Trouble is, there’s no getting it back off so if you screw it you’ll have to smash and have another go. You’ll have no chance cutting it out and saving it.

    Question:
Are these high level brake lights cracking because of impact damage or is it some sort of deterioration. Eg. UV?

I presume mine was impact damage eg. a rock .
