Installed the new Oricom DTX4200. Had a **** of time trying to find a decent earth, ended up going straight to the battery and found an earth nearby. Works great.

Replaced the high tone horn after the original unit had stopped working. No doubt from drawing in water when driving in the rain. This time around bent the mounting bracket to better position the horn so it does not ingest water.

The new horn took 20 days for delivery from the UK which I thought was pretty good.

Hi, as an alternative approach I went to the secondary Lithium Battery for power so that I can keep the radio alive while parked. That way you can still monitor the radio while you are in base camp or whilst pulled up in town. The only frustration is that others in your convoy all drop off radio contact when they park if they are relying on their primary battery

Where did you end up mounting the radio unit? I went for the space under the steering wheel... no issues so far: Installing Oricom DTX4200 UHF Radio & Antenna - D4

New heated windscreen and tail light

The replacement tail light assembly arrived today... on the same day I had Windscreen O'Brien replace the cracked Windscreen on the D4. I was impressed that the O'Brien crew ensured that all of the A Pillar clips were complete before finally replacing the plastic work. I know that they can break off easily (as I found out when I installed the Snorkel) and had to take a trip across town to get some replacements. The tail light was a very impressive Chinese copy of the OEM model... all works and is identical to the OEM version at a third of the price.

Yes, same(ish) position but mine is on the underside of that tray. Radio still on when car off as getting feed straight from battery. My secondary battery is in a battery box that doesn't live in the car. Have set the timer on the radio to turn off after 1 hr, so if I do leave it on it shouldn't drain the battery.

Was trying to get feed from fuse panel behind glove box but could not get a satisfactory earth in there. Was going to run a seperate earth wire to something under steering column but got the ****s with it and just went straight to battery. No interferrence from engine that way either.

    Good idea with the timer!

What happened to your D3/D4 today?

Fitted a new slide that I bought of a local guy 2nd hand today. This gives me access to the entire back as a pull out which will make it easier to load and unload.

Unfortunately he sold his LR for a 200 series, fortunately he sold the slide at a good price! Unfortunately I had to reweld some welds underneath and burnt the carpet What happened to your D3/D4 today?

Visited the new 4wd industries(Maitland) shop today. I have been a keen all 4x4 supporter (Kotara) since I bought it . Bit spoilt for choice now. Good to see LR Indies growing and supporting. Got a set of front Sway Bar links to change when I do my LCA bushes soon. Very happy with the price.

Another positive plug for Whyatts in Geraldton.
Fitted me in at short notice to connect up the LED resistors, heat sink and on/off switch, plus checked out the connector wiring for the brick/block of flats following us to Cape Leveque, then home via Mt Augustus and Melangata Station in the Murchison for a meetup with the WA LR club and cooking lessons with Jo Clews.
