Thought you might not have been aware. Wouldn’t want you to get grief from either your insurance company or the police if they reduced your claim/fine you due to interfering with a safety device. There’s a company in WA selling expensive lambswool ones but they’re $1k/set. Air bag compliant tho!

seller says they are compliant, I,ve never had a side on smash, not saying that I will not, but years of motorcycling from early age taught me defensive driving, riding, I see things, usually before they happen, bike riding does this, one treats all others as a threat to ones existence, I'll remove the passenger side cover, but as i said, merci for the heads up,

Ran a twin (figure-8) shielded and 6 core 14/0.2 from the rear passenger cubby through to behind the glovebox. Ran the shielded up behind the display and terminated to a pair of RCA to connect to the GVIF. Ran the twin shielded into the roof, out into the tailgate and down to the handle in preparation for the reversing camera. So I can cut one of the pair in the cubby, and connect the van camera to the bit heading forwards, and 12V for the reversing camera to the bit headed for the tailgate and the core for the reversing camera is continuous from the GVIF to the camera.

Getting the cables under the trim down the side rather than running them in the groove on top was a challenge, but a bit of 3/8 round poly worked a treat as a snake.

The repair for the tailgate handle thread inserts worked a treat, so it's now properly re-secured with no loose fixings.

Rather than using those revolting scotchloks to source a feed for the reversing camera, I'm using an "add-a-fuse" on fuse 10 behind the glovebox (relay switched dedicated reversing light feed for the trailer harness), so I can un-plug it when I have the van attached preventing the vehicle reversing camera overriding the van cam when I'm in reverse. As nothing I tow has reversing lights, I can just leave it unplugged with no issue.

Tomorrows job is to terminate the van cam cables, and Tuesdays morning pick up the reversing camera from the post office and put it in.

Agreed. I like to assume that everyone else on the road is an idiot. That helps me stay safe

Finished the wiring for the van camera and reversing camera (which I'll pick up from the post office at 9am). Noticed the passenger lock motor crapping out again. That was the one that locked out my mother in law 2 days after buying "The Antichrist" back in Jan 2017. So it has done ok as a re-furb, but I think it might be time for a new lock motor (or just the whole lock). Also noticed the rear drivers side starting to not lock properly. Ugh.

On another note, with a bit of fiddling, I can get the van cam (and reversing camera) up on the kids RSE displays. Hopefully that'll keep them amused a bit while on the road until I can get the DVD stacker out to clean the lens.

Tried to plug the Engel into the rear Aux socket in the back to find it was dead. The plug had fully come off the back of the socket. Another gremlin I suppose.

We’re did you mount the monitor? I’ve got a van camera waiting to be installed. I’m just not sure where to mount the extra monitor.
