Dragged the tin tent home on Sunday. Traffic on the freeway was bonkers, so took the back roads through Serpentine to the Tonkin. Much nicer and easier on what was left of the clutch.

Went in Monday morning for a clutch, flywheel and release bearing assembly. Picked it up this morning. Going to take me a while to get used to a bitey clutch again but nice to be able to use more than half of the available power.

My thinking is that starting slowly will start the oil flowing prior to combustion forces on the bearings, although the bearings will have a film from the previous running unless that was many months ago and even then there would still be enough oil to prevent any damage. Starter solenoid contacts are where damage can occur if voltage is down because the solenoid doesn't engage with enough force, causing the contacts to burn.

Ive been looking at the various ladders available for the D4 with the main criteria being it needed to not clash with the Darche 270 awning and would be preferably available all the time, ie it would stay on the vehicle. I didn't manage to find anything I liked, so I ended up making my own which mounts under my yakima platform roof rack. It's made from a combination of galvanised 25mm steel tubing for the ladder and 3mm thick aluminium equal angle for the mounting frame. The ladder slides on furniture teflon slides within the frame. Everything sourced from good old Bunnings.

    Gear selector

Apparently a common problem in the D4, We have done a temporary fix on the selector (with help garnered from this forum) so it is now a going concern but we will need to replace the module. Having had a quote from a mechanical garage, (nearly $2000AU) we are now looking for an online selector. Can anyone recommend an online retailer? We have found a lot of listings but not sure about reliability of product etc. Also, when searching for manufacturer parts, we come up with LR090489, LR090489LR
Am I looking for either of those numbers for a 2014 D4? And having said that, an oem LR909489 part is available from Animal Auto via Ali Express. Does anyone have any feedback on this site?
    Any help appreciated
