D4 SC disappointment
Checked out a 2014 D4 SC V6 a few days ago. Looked okay and drove like a cut cat. But...yes... there's alway a but with LRs....on opening the hood we smelt coolant.
The owner said he'd topped it up that morning..all cars use coolant he said😐
Later he confirmed the water pump had been replaced at 90000ks not by a LR workshop tho.
It seems the water pump is a common issue on the V6 and if it is replaced it pays to replace the plastic coolant pipes as well. Seems the job was cut price, pump only as the mechanic confirmed the owner wanted just that- whereas the LR agent recommended much more work ie pipes etc which go brittle and leak.
The rear pinion seal had also failed badly resulting in oil sprays underneath. ..not cleaned by the shop that replaced the seal.
I am amazed how people cut corners on a 40k plus car. I suspect he'll lose up to 5k on resale. .unless a sucker buys it😎
Bugger...what a great car...and there's so few of them out there😶
Oh well...I'll keep looking☺
