Hi all,
not posted in a while due to happy Disco however I am heading away in January and recently noticed the fuel level dropping ~ twice the speed it normally does / should. Essentially I can fill the tank to the brim, drive 350-400k and the gauge will be showing re-fuel now. Stop at servo, fill up and might squeeze in 40ltrs, usually less.
Level seems to drop evenly from full to empty, and distance to empty seems to be correct for any given fill level, just drops a lot faster than it should as I drive.
I understand the TDV6 had an issue with corroded terminals in one of the senders, and I also understand that the D4 has 2 senders, one near the top and one at the back (hard to get to apparently). I also understand that to work on the senders the tank has to be drained and dropped
So forum sages - anyone had this issue in an SDV6? Mine is MY12 with ~196k on the clock and drives well with no other obvious / known faults.
If I do have to drop the tank can I do this as a home job (I am mechanically competent), and how long would I expect to take / what parts / tools would I need? I would also clean/replace the LPFP filter at the same time - anything else should be done when the tank is out?
Thanks.

My 2011 SDV6 had the same issue, but it was still under warranty and I believe that they replaced sender in the tank and that the tank had to be removed. But I don't know how involved that is..
Was this about 5 years ago at Melrose? I remember a D4 on the rocks and then a bang. I may even have footage or pics of it.
