Will check my containers when I get home, but I know one said 50% and 33% which I think was Penrite. One said 50% and I think that was Repco or maybe Nulon, but I had one that said 60/40 but may have meant 40% coolant not water, cant remember what brand though. The Falcon ute only got Repco as I know I will have to drop it again in the next 12 months. Generally I do 50/50 anyway as easier to measure.
I mostly get premix now any way as just easier.
What are you running in the D4 as I will likely do mine soon as I can track when it was done. I would have thought it would have been done with the timing belts but does not show on the workshop receipt.

AFAIK Coolant is due for changing at 7 years or ~170000km. I changed the original coolant out for the penrite red 8year 500000km concentrate (made my own 50% mix with demineralised water) . No issues so far. I'm now at 196000km.

The flush neutralises some coolant, so you want it gone as much as possible.

You’ll also need to drive it to make the coolant circulate enough..... just idling doesn’t get it all moving ...

Yep, Have some of this for a while now, Will see if I have an old bottle as it did have 8 years at one concentrate and 10 at another. Just cant recall what car it was for or maybe bike or if it was oat or glycol. I try to run at 50% hence why I go a bit above when I flush completely. I found with the TD5 it would retain about 4 litres in the system.

Yes, the Nulon flush is added to old coolant then drive around for minimum 20 minutes and maximum 1 hour with heater on.

It’s the extra demin wash steps that really add to the job time.

If money was no object you could do a fill and drop flush of premix coolant.

Interesting Penrite now show a Blue Oat coolant for the D4 2.7 and 3.0
What is interesting is this coolant states Silicate free. Is this actually a requirement by LR? I have been running the Red in most vehicles and have it on hand. Dont really want to have to go for another type coolant again. Currently it is red coolant in the D4.

I run the Blue Penrite coolant in our LRs

Colour is not an indication of compatibility. [emoji41]

I run the Green Penrite coolant in my Motorbikes.

The Penrite orange or red is not compatible, it’s not silicate free, you have to use the blue. Silicate free stops it eating the water pump seal.

If you don’t want the colour change use nulon, don’t use the genuine coolant, it’s Castrol, its junk, for some reason Castrol coolants leak, in the case of my d4 was from a fitting on the side of the block, was a bitch to change. All Castrol coolants give me grief, but I love their oils.

I’m pretty sure caterpillar ELC coolant is also compatible, but I haven’t followed that up yet in full, it’s a different colour, if it’s good I’ll change the coolant bottle at the same time.
