Does anyone have recommendations for nice(ish) seat covers for standard manual D3 seats with RSE headrests?

I am using the "Wetseat Land Rover Discovery 3 Wagon Universal Wetseat Neoprene Seat Covers - Front"

Fit is pretty good for universal seat cover - and yes you can get the D3 head rest off.

Only thing I have noticed is that during summer they feel somewhat hotter to sit on than than OEM fabric seat

I haven't found a way without dismantling the seat to get to the wiring harness to disconnect the screen. Can you elaborate?

There seems to be some confusion about the headrests.
These are height adjustable, don't appear to be able to be removed without dismantling the seat and have no grab handles.

That last pic above,if you push the tab in on both of the head rest uprights,then get someone to pull it up it won’t come up and out completely?

Mine do,but maybe cos yours has the screen,it’s different?

It's different. There is a cable down one leg and a pin inside the seat to stop it coming out. There is only a clip on the outside upright, so only one button to adjust the height.

Just one of the many things on this car that is different to other D3s we've seen. Different isn't always good.
- high ambient aux fuel cooler (leaks and bypassed)
- fuel burning heater (maintenance intensive and nice on the 2 days a year it gets cold enough to fire up, if I've kept it maintained. Sets a fault code every time the fuel warning light comes on)
- different reversing sensor config (pain in the arse to diagnose)
- DPF (pain in the arse, now gone)
- headrest/screens config (good for the kids when in tv range or the dvd player actually works. pain in the arse to clean or fit seat covers)
- 6 speed manual (the only good bit that's different)

Brad, have you had a close look at the other headrest upright? Its release mechanism does not stick out and is almost invisible, as well as being more difficult to press when found. So looks nothing like your photo. It’s only there to release the headrest completely. Having said that, mine doesn’t have screens so it’s possible that yours is different and there may still be a wiring connector issue.

The left hand rod is the one with the cable in it, and the sleeve it sits in appears mechanically limited in some way.

I finally found the guide I was looking for (https://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/alb...it%20Guide.pdf) that had the info in it and the sleeve (the bit with the clip) has to be removed from the seat entirely to get the headrest out, and then the leather still has to come off to get access to the cable/connector. The problem is the headrest needs to come out to allow the sleeve to be unclipped (you can't depress the clip to remove the sleeve while the rod is in there), so the leather has to come off to release whatever is preventing the headrest rod coming out, to then release/remove the sleeve, after which the cable still needs to be disconnected and removed. Assemble in the reverse order.

Looks like I need another double jointed oompa loompa russian gymnast to get into the back of the seat.

That or I'll go back to my original request for seat covers that don't require removal of the headrest to fit and remove for cleaning. I might just get a set of custom ones made up by the wool mob in freo. We've checked them out before and they do look very nice.

I have one set of wheels, it’s a constant compromise.

I've just replaced my Maxxis 980 255/55R19 tyres with the same again. They did 60k and no trouble at all including thousands of kms over some of the roughest roads and a lot of towing. To me they seem to be one really tough tyre. I'll admit that earlier I thought that I would only get about 40k out of them [bawl], but I was wrong. [bigsmile]
They are noisy, but turn the radio up...

I have my rhino backbone to drown them out lol.

I figure I’m going to buy four more before my Kimberley trip. Will move the two existing 3/4 tread ones as spares.
