D3 TDV6 coolant - Jaguar yellow coolant ok??

    2007 D3 TDV6 SE

Hoping to get a little clarity on something that is now worrying me.

I needed to do a radiator flush and put new coolant in.
Got the coolant from the LR dealer on sunny coast who were good to deal with. He advised that the LR and jaguar coolant were the same stuff so I paid my money and get the goods.

Drained my radiator and flushed with lots of hose water, left to drain then put the hoses back on. Bastards of things to get off but anyway.

To my concern when I opened the bottle of coolant I saw it’s yellow not the red stuff. No mention on the bottles if it is OAT or not.

As I need to refill the radiator I have used this jaguar coolant at 50:50.

Anybody advise if this jaguar stuff is ok or do I need to get the red stuff and do the flush all over???

    thanks in advance.
    cheers
    Peter

Red stuff is not a reference to coolant type D3 TDV6 coolant - Jaguar yellow coolant ok??

Coolant from different suppliers/manufacturers can be dyed whatever colour they like.

The Jag Coolant is 100% ok so no need to worry.

Potential issue is using normal tap water to flush. Tap water can be quite "hard" water. Suggested practice is to use demineralised water (from Bunnings at about $4 for 5l) for flushing AND for mixing up the 50/50 concentrate. Maybe the Jag coolant has inhibitors in it to neutralise the tap water...

Phosphorus free OAT coolants can be used with tap water. I wouldn’t, but you can. It was the phosphorus that was in older coolants that’s caused the reaction with tap water and a buildup of scale.

X2, there is no standard with coolant type and colour.

I never said I used tap water to mix with the coolant. I used DM water I got from autobarn. Tap water was only used for flushing and allowed to drain for a couple of hours.

His point is there will inevitably be tap water still in the system (you can never completely drain the system) which would have reacted with old types of coolant leading to scale. By using DM water for the flush you’re guaranteed to be issue free.
