    New FOB for a D4

    Howdy all,

Admin, move this if it's in the wrong place.

I've lost one of my FOBs and fell over when I went to the local dealer.

Where is the best place, local or OS, to get a new FOB with an emergency key blank?

    Thanks in advance.

    New FOB for a D4

eBay. Get a cheap knock off ~$20 and have someone with a Gap IID tool program it for you.

Just make sure you get the right frequency 433/434mhz for Au ones

I just paid $200 for a new fob for our Defender from the indy British Off-road and thought that was cheap.
The LR genuine key alone cost an extra $70 and isn't even cut, getting it cut to LR specs will be another $80.
Your other fob will probably also have to be reprogrammed or it may not work on the same frequency as the new fob.

The Ford blank HU101 is readily available from many places.

The covers on the D4 fobs are another issue, they fall apart after a few years,we are on our third.

Quality ones are around $50,off EBay,there are cheapies, like most things cheap, don’t last long.

I put a case on my key, a simple frame. No skin oils into the key so it hasn’t fallen apart in 6 years.

The local dealer (stealer) replaced the case on my fob for about $24. They were not overly generous because they charged squillions for the service! To my mind the skin-oil-affected fob should have been fixed FOC under warranty. Fortunately we haven't lost a $$$Fob yet.
