Smart key not found

I support the starter battery on its way out theory. I had the smart key error a number of times both static and engine running / moving before I replaced my cranking battery, convinced it was directly related. Check the age / condition of your cranking battery. Good luck.

Did the fuses change anything. At least for a short time?

I wish, mine is two months old. Tested with electronic ctek tester and carbon pile tester. Still better performing then the sticker on it

have flashed the software today. Will keep you posted if the problem persists

otherwise there is probably some merit to the battery theory, my caravan has killed it at least 3-4 times in the past when I accidentally leave it connected

It’s a topic I’ve been meaning to post about, but haven’t gotten around to it.

it’s odd, when I stop the car the fridge in the van flashes red like it’s not running but give it two hours and the car battery will be dead as can be. Assume it might be the vans electric breakaway, stability control or something else still draining but unsure what

A simple VSR with the correct cut points would work fine. Ensure the cable you have is large enough to avoid voltage drop and put the VSR up front where you draw from the battery.

Are all options - in your application the 2 layer units would be my choices.

FYI. The software flash didn’t do the trick

and the error seems to be brought on when closing the passenger door. The mind boggles

Same as yours.
SWMBO would get out the passenger side door, on the property, to open a gate and the message would appear.
And it would appear at other random times,and the vehicle would not start.

I was a bit concerned as we were 650Km from the nearest dealer,but we got back to Brisbane,and the dealer fixed it while we waited.
Common issue they said.

So you may need to contact a dealer,if no one else can sort it,as more than likely it is some sort of software issue.

It’s a little concerning as I’m on the Yorke peninsula now, heading into the bite then up the middle so no dealer for a while.

so far it has never had trouble starting, a simple lock and unlock has fixed the no key found issue each time. Fingers crossed till Darwin
