Cylinder 3 Injector Circuit low - Circuit short to ground

My 2011 D4 has gone into limp mode 3 times with the above fault description being stated as the cause by the dealer - DTC=P0267-11. This has been a stored fault as the engine has worked perfectly again after a few minutes resetting with the engine off. Dealer has checked the injector control circuit wiring between the ECM and the injector and has found no fault there. Also did an oscilloscope check of both the wiring and the injector and found no fault.

The DTC help page says 'if no fault is found in wiring harness suspect fuel injector'. So dealer says an injector change is the next step for $$$$.

Am concerned that this could be a waste of money. Are there any other causes for such a fault decription? Perhaps a battery that is probably on its last legs and running low on voltage causing a false reading? Battery is 5 years old but went flat after 2 weeks of recent inactivity (to give you an idea of what condition it is in) but took charge and is running again.

    Anyone else had this problem?

Try getting the battery tested. 5yo is about it, and as per this forum, theres enough evidence to suggest a failing battery causes all sorts of weir sh$# to happen with these cars. Bit surprised the dealer didnt check the battery for you. Battery world test it for free.

Next step is to have the injector balances checked, they should all be close to each other, the odd one out would be suspect.
