I thought the canbus systems didn't need a code?
Could be wrong though, I know the lower spec ones don't.
Cheers
James
Hi Guys, I have a 2007 Discovery 3, 2.7 litre HSE, I do not have the radio code for the standard Harmon Kardon system. According tothe UK, the radio installed is a 'Self Coder' meaning it is coded by theowner from new, therefore, no record of this code exists on our system.
1. Is this correct ?
2. Is there a default code?
Thanks in advance Ron

Why do you need a code?
I have a 2006 HSE and I have never needed a code. When the battery is disconnected my system even stores the programmed memory stations which are accessible again once the battery is reconnected.

Guys, I wasn't game to disconnect the battery in case there was a code, strange the UK didn't say that we don't need one.....thanks a million anyway.

So if you remove the battery cover and look beside the Fuse box in the engine bay, there is a series of tips and hints in pictorial form, one of them indicates that you can disconnect the battery for a maximum of 120 seconds without any issues so I did it for about 180 seconds and all it did was loose the clock and stations, I did do it today but I am tipping if you do the disconnect for less than 120 seconds everything will be retained. Thanks for all the help and advice. Looks like the radio does not need a security code in the D3 but the station and clock settings are volatile type memory i.e. they need power to retain data.
Ron - you'll probably find the one-touch front windows will also need to be reset.
Cheers,
Rob
