Lock for the fuel cap is my guess. It must connect to an actuator motor.
Hi All
I'm undertaking a fairly extensive wiring update, Redarc brake controller, finish off Traxide, internal and external lighting, solar and additional USB/PowperPoles. To do this I have the rear luggage compartment side panels off.
Whilst I was putting some connectors on the wiring I heard a noise which made me look up and on the right hand side (looking to the front from the rear) I saw the cable in the photo wiggling around as though it had just come loose after being under tension.
I can’t seem to identify where is comes from, but if I hold the black bit on the end of the cable and push/pull it, it appears to be opening something behind a metal panel above the wheel arch.
It looks as though the black end of the cable locates in a hole, but none seem to fit. I’m assuming it is something to do with the HVAC system. Anyone got any ideas where it locates?
Regards
John

Agree with PerthDisco. That was my first thought as I read the OP.
The rear aircon is on the other side.

I was looking at mine last weekend because I’m putting a drawer system in and trying to figure out how I would get to it if the latch / actuator failed..
Its 100% the cable for the fuel flap lock / unlock - it’s the one you yank if the filler jams. The other end is connected to an actuator up nearer the rear door.
Yes it locks / unlocked in parallel with your doors.
Can I ask why you removed the inner side panel? I was looking to remove mine to get more storage in the drawer system - it looks like there is a bunch of wasted space behind the panel?

Hello all
Many thanks for the feedback and apologies for the delay replying, life is slightly on the hectic side at the moment, I only got to check the fuel flap this morning. Indeed you are correct it is the fuel flap cable, just got to see where it actually connects later today.
Harry, the reason I took the side panel out was because I'm running the Traxide wiring plus a bunch of other cables from aux rear and side lighting via the tailgate, down the D pillars and along the wiring channel in the sills to a smart switch panel. I also put in a USB socket and 2 PowerPoles in an outlet in the panel.
To go with this I have an aux fuse box and MPPT solar controller in the right hand well where the jack used to live. These are mounted on a backing board to industrial velco on the wheel arch interior. Taking the panel out seemed to be a lot easier to do than leaving it in place and working in a very confined space.
It wasn't difficult to take out and I have put in back in fairly easy, I only have to try and source a couple of broken clips that hold the narrow carpeted areas where the load restraints are located. Not had much luck with that so may have to start a new post to pick the brains of the wise on this forum.

I finally got to look at this and found where it attaches and after a bit of pushing got it to 'plug in'
Took a few of actuations of the central locking for it to operate smoothly, but all good now.
If this happens to anyone else, look for a green coloured grommet up and to the left to where the jack sits (attached photo)
Thanks to all for your help.
