I’ve been running the Tuffant alloys for 6 months full time travel around Australia Terry, including plenty of outback gravel road and station tracks. No technical rock crawling, just fully loaded touring and towing. 22,000km just clocked up shod with 265/65 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. They’ve been excellent so far. The D4 would be over 3t the whole time and most of that has been towing as well, so I’m happier with the higher load rating.

I am glad the Nittos worked well on your TuffAnt 18" alloy rims.
I am trying to learn about the tyre options for my D4, for a Central Australian trip i am planning next winter and thinking that this Nitto may be a good option, once I buy the TuffAnt 18"s
Spare tyre space is not a concern, as I have a twin wheel carrier. The fuel tank was changed to long range by the previous owner.

The TireSize.com website lists the Nitto LT 265/65/R18 as running at 654 revs to the mile.
The OEM D4 tyres 255/55/R19 run 672 revs per mile.
If I am correct and i may well not be, 654/672 means the speedo would read 2.7% slower with the Nittos. eg 100 kmph when the vehicle is actually running at 103 kmph.

Could a tool like the IID Gap tool be used to reset this discrepancy or do you simply allow for the difference as you read the speedo?

From memory the D4 speedo reads low so you should be ok

D5 with 275 55 20's read 103 when doing actual 100.

So Landrover speedo's seem to read consistently low.

Checked with both GPS speedo app on phone and speed checker on Geelong Rd

The usual "as built" speedo setting for our market is set at 3.5% below actual and at +2kph.
Although each of these parameters has a number of settings, it appears as if there are only two main market settings. In Genesis, this is displayed under Jaguar Speedometer Calibration Market which can be found under the Warnings and Messages tab. The choices are:
Market 0: 3.5% + 2kph
Market 1: 2.0% + 0kph
Accordingly, if "as built" setting is Market 0, then the following parameters are also factory set:
Jaguar KPH Offset: +2kph
Jaguar Percentage Scaling Factor: 3.5%


For my vehicle I changed all three settings as follows:
Market 1: 2.0% + 0kph
Jaguar KPH Offset: 0kph
Jaguar Percentage Scaling Factor: 2%
This gives a spot on speedo on 19” 255/55/19 and 18” 265/60/18

If so that would have been my estimate of being 6 km/h out on standard tyres.

I’m 106kph on the dash for 100kph actual (gps) on standard configuration and standard wheels and tyres.

Same here, which works out as Market 0 standard doesn't it?

100km/hr, plus 3.5% would show 103.5km/hr
plus 2km/hr = 105.5km/hr. Rounding to the nearest whole number = 106km/hr

I’ve not used the Gap iiD to reset settings as described above because I’ve gotten used to actual versus speedo. What I’ve noticed is:
265/60/R18 was around 103/104 for 100 actual
265/65/R18 is pretty close to reading true

I think it must be something like that as the Jeffster and veebs have observed.

Although Nitto’s are great,and have excellent reviews,they are at times very difficult to get hold of.

A mate got caught out after he destroyed one,which by the way wasn’t the fault of the tyre.
