Servicing a D3 on the ground

I have a stahlbus. I thought about cutting an access panel into the bash plate but I quite like having a good look around while the oil is draining. Now I have the right bolts on the bash plate ( all sorts of dodgy and missing crap when I bought the car ) I now have a little routine. Spin them out with the rattle gun and it’s off super quick, they go back in with fingers to start the thread and hang the plate, and then a quick buzz with the air ratchet to do them back up.

So the stahlbus is still protected by the bash plate?

I have a Stalhbus and it fits under the bash plate.

For services I use 4 ramps and any suspension work I have 4 stands but only jack the front or back up so I don’t have the entire vehicle supported by the stands. Have a 2500kg trolley jack. Wouldn’t go any lighter.

No problem with the Stalhbus - and a small hole through the bash plates has it sorted. It certainly won’t get hit offroad or on.

No pump to clean, no waiting. 5 min from lifting bonnet to new oil and filter in. [emoji3]

Any body got a link for buying Stalhbus in Australia? Also what size is needed for a 2.7 TDV6?

Yep. I have cut a hole in the bash plate too. I cover the hole with some wide cloth tape to keep sand out. So far it has stayed on between services.

Never cleaned mine - simply drain it into an oil bottle like an oil pan. Sure gravity is quicker, but the additional ten minutes allows me to drink two additional beers. I think I’m on the winner.
