that first line makes sense,,,
is it a thermostat?
cannot see how more fluid,, and more cooling, can be a bad thing, when the vehicle is driven hard,,
All trans fail when overheated. No trans fail when over cooled..
yes there is a greater risk,, more hoses=more connections, but thats about the only downside..

Maybe not fail, but it's certainly documented that wear is increased if overcooled and constantly operating below desired operating temperature range - which in the long run can/will lead to premature failure. Not as quickly as overheated but it would be naive to assume that it's as simple as maximum cooling is the best.

No it’s not. It uses a flow strategy to warm to operating temp quickly. Combination of gear selection, converter slip etc.
Plenty of downside adding an additional thermostat - they are a known failure point.
Running cold does do damage (wear increases) and older transmissions couldn’t manage this.
These 6HP and 8HP units can, and do, manage their warm up to reduce wear.
I'm not talking about over-cooling, and already aware, having read and posted the Ashcroft info.
My thermostat wont start opening until 80 - near the start of the recommended operating range, and if I can reduce the current 110+ towing operating temp down to the recommended range of 77 - 93, I'll be a happy vegemite.
EDIT - Plus whenever towing, I have my GAP tool working, so can monitor carefully.
