    Missing Smart Key

    Hello All,
Just home from a holiday with extended family at Grassy Head,(NSW north coast) where the D4 was used as the transport vehicle for the family and driven by different Sons in law. Only Seven seater vehicle there. All well until I tried to retrieve my key. Could not be found! What are my options other than the dealer.
    Thanks in advance
    Jim

Having recently gotten a new key programmed I believe there are two options depending on the vehicle. Older models without the locked down KVM can (I'm lead to believe) be programmed pretty easily with a diagnostic tool, maybe even the IID. later models can still be done but required direct access to the KVM + a lot more skill and time. Mine was unfortunately the later. an auto locksmith here in Melbourne did it for me for $500 including new key. I think he gave me a discount because he was pretty difficult to deal with. The dealership quoted $2800 and at least a six week delay for parts to be shipped from the UK.

FYI if you do go down this path the KVM is located on the right side just behind the second row seats.
