Ill say it!

Don't buy the Redarc brake controller. They are a good piece of kit, but far too expensive, like most Redarc products.

Try the Hayman Reeese proportional controller.
It has the same remote type installation but is nearly half the price.

Also, I prefer the 'boost function to the Redarc's manual mode.

That's brilliantly helpful. I'm in love with it - it was the car I should have purchased instead of the Prado in 2016 - and I knew it at the time and can't explain the silly decision. All good now though!

Incorrect,i would move No.5 to the top of the list.

Its the one that needs replacing ASAP,if it has never been replaced before.
My Indie does them at every 5 yrs,or whenever coolant is replaced,whichever comes first.

Its a $2.00 part that can cost you tens of thousands.
Replace it with the OEM plastic part.

I would also move number 6 to number 2,if the battery is original,as it could fail anytime.Maybe just get it load tested,if you want.

Ah, sorry. Mine's a 2015 model and I thought you mentioned the 2016 had no metal pan, so assumed my 2015 one had one available. It's an 07/2015 Build, so perhaps it is a 2016MY and does not, as you say.

Thanks! Yes, sorry, I had no particular order there, only because I think they'd all get done within a month or so of me owning it, as it'd be due for the 13,000km-odd servicing about now.

As someone mentioned, I have already ordered the mud flaps too - that one I can knock off now.

Cheers! Never had a car with one yet, so don't know a lot about them. I'll have a look at both. For me, if one is Australian made from an Australian company then I would go with that. But I know things like this will likely be made in China regardless - and I seem to recall HR is Australian, so it'll come down to seeking advice like yours!

The other way around..Redarc is designed and made in Aus...HR is a clone of Tekonsha and made in China. Read up the reviews on caravan forums who invariably rate the Redarc unit higher.

Also, an installed redarc tow pro elite looks like it was there from factory. There’s an excellent thread that give exact installing instructions

As others have said, you don't need to "fit" a towbar because it's already there as standard: the mounting point is hidden behind a panel in the rear bumper and then the hitch and ball should be behind the left hand side panel in the rear of the D4. But you will need a controller if towing more than 750kg. The issue with the hitch is that it hangs down low and some people prefer to replace it with a straight bumper-bar height one, like the Mitch hitch.

The reality is that there's nothing really required to be fitted to these cars because, unlike most other options on the market, it's mostly all there already. As an example, the lights are good enough that I've never felt any need to change them. Suspension lift? Irrelevant because of the EAS. Tyres? The electronics and suspension let it go places on road tyres that other vehicles need aggressive off road tyres to deal with. And so on.
