It’s a good point. If you see a car for sale with a list of replaced parts as long as your arm do you see that as a car with inherent problems or do you see that as a positive because it’s had a lot of the problems taken care of?Quote:

Depends on the age of the vehicle for me. Obviously if a 3 yr old car had a long list of replaced parts id be worried, but a 15yr old car with 300k km id probably be happy with itQuote:

I agree. I've had a lot of preventative maintenance done on our Defender and I reckon it's pretty well set for another 150,000kms, apart from maintenance items. For example, the alternator will probably go in the next 50,00ks or so, but I expect that.
I'd favour a well-maintained vehicle with higher kms over a neglected vehicle with lowers kms.
I have almost 250000 on my 2012 3.0 SDV6. I have had several lower arm bushes, transfer case (my fault as I tried a range change while moving and bent a shift fork) new struts all round and brakes. Yes I do over maintain, but in my business one does not wait for an aircraft to break plus I do a lot of long trips and very little city stop start. I have a folder of every receipt so if I were to sell the new owner has a full history.
Thats why my D4 was such a great buy, looked after, less than 100K,every service done when due, all the preventative maintenance done as weii and was the less problematic 2.7L,with E diff.And priced right.Quote:

The son's Puma will be on the market soon, looked after same as the others, and is low K's as well.

A 2.7L D4 with less than 100K would be an excellent choice at present.
I don't own a D4 so don't have personal experience, but I had read that D4's were basically pretty strong and most problems were likely to be electrical. Is that right?
None of my issues have been electrical until last week with the Bluetooth module.

Electrical and software type issues not very common.
Well I'm glad that's all I will have to look forward to as our D4 edges towards the old age of 4 years and nearly 90k. :(
