I had similar noises - turned out to be loose Control arm bolts. When I say loose - just way lower torque than specs.

I've just had a heap of bushes replaced, control arms etc etc etc.
    Car feel great.
But, the creak is still there, no change.
I'll be taking it back for further investigation obviously.

I'm wondering if it could be something like a body mount, just throwing it out there.
It only happens when I apply brakes and the weight shifts, not over bumps etc.
It literally sounds like an old sailing ship.
    Cheers Vin

Check the left rear hub and its mounts. if its only when braking, could be the hub bearing on its way out or play in that assembly as its loaded/unloaded when the weight transfers.

Get them to replace the sway bar bushes , in the meantime you can spray a bit of teflon , or silicone spray in them to stop the creaking until they're replaced.

The other one I’ve seen is sway bar links creaking.
