Remote locking and instrument cluster issues
Hi All. I'm looking for some help diagnosing a couple of electrical/electronic issues.
Remote entry not working
- sometimes intermittent, but mostly not working
- have checked the green cable - it's perfect condition
- have checked the key fob x 2 - both working perfectly
When I bough the car 1 year ago it was working fine. After a about three months it stoped working. Thought it was key so got new one (as I only had one) and fixed the other one- was not the key. Someone mentioned the green cable solder join - was checked by my indie and he said it was in very good condition.
Instrument cluster going bonkers
Here's a video of the issue: Dropbox - d3-cluster-fck.MOV - Simplify your life told it could be a range of things:
- something to do with battery/voltage/earth
- the cluster connection
- soldering on the electrical board
I have a brand new crank battery, but also have traxide dual battery that I installed myself... not sure if something I did could cause this. I've not checked the cluster connection yet. It could be the board as from what I can see online lots of D3s have this issue. In the UK they seems to have a service where you can send it in and they'll fix it (reflow solder??) and send it back to you in a couple of days... seemingly no similar service in AU.
Any help with diagnosis greatly appreciated. Thanks.
