Pete,being a D4 just check that the jumpers are in the correct position and connect the plugs.
It's ready a D4 straight out of the box,you may have the reset button with cable which you probably wont need.

I wish, problem is I have more than just a reset cable with cable I seem to have I also have an extra set of cables with what looks like serial plugs on both ends which appears to go from box to yet another serial cable???Quote:

It looks to me like the previous owner had extension cables for the controller and selector dial. Does the white selector plug connect into the white one hanging out of the box?
Does the grey 9 pin connector on the large loom connect to the 9pin that’s coming off the box with black wires? If so, then it’s fine.

Definitely extension cables, disregard the cable with 2 serial plugs and the short white cable. Connect the others up as they are and mount the switches, job done.
