Fair. I have always loved Bilstein shocks.

Oxmanagain on YouTube did a video of pulling a strut out of a shock and the whole broken down assembly
As much as i would like to just rebuild my struts with new shocks its just not worth it, the shocks alone are not a lot cheaper than complete struts and odds are the bag will either fail or you may have trouble getting them to seal properly.
Similarly, I'd be hesitant to use an air bag past 8-10 years. Rubber gets old and tired - it's no different to the car tyres. Leaking bag causes additional wear and tear on the compressor which itself is not cheap.
For both our D2's rear suspension SLS and both our D4's we replace the airbags on a 10 year cycle to ensure reliability.
