A popular servo, with high turnover.
Less likely to get water in fuel or contamination from bugs in the tank.
Usually BP preium diesel as its from a high turnover freeway station near me. Had an injector fault once on Caltex diesel from a remote station,(not bagging the brand of fuel they sell). I have consistently found I get better mileage from BP. I add an injector /fuel system cleaner (nulon or penrite) every 6 months or so.
I have no choice in brand or price....small country town..... so it's Caltex or nothing. I've never considered using a fuel additive.
I always try to buy "Turbo Diesel" if it is available. I've read somewhere that the Disco runs better on it than normal diesel.![]()
It’s usually Caltex/Woolworths or BP if in town.
Near home the local BP is the only choice within 30km’s

I usually use Metro Gold in my D2TD5 which is supposed to be a premium diesel and is usually the cheapest on the Central Coast and in bigger towns .Currently 106.9 whereas Caltex is 105.7 with a NRMA discount. Metro is an independent chain in NSW.
I use Fuel Doctor on every about second fill of my 150L tank.
I have a Mr Funnel biggest size, but only used it once as it made refilling very slow. The woman who owned the station in WA seemed a bit insulted and told me she had never had bad fuel. If I was in a rempote location I would use the Mr Funnel, but the 150 l tank enables me to avoid this usually.
main thing is not to fill when the truck is there refilling.
My local station has just been refurbished with new tanks so I am confident filling there also.
I have also used truck diesel in Karratha as it was cheap at an automated terminal for semis with no ill effects.

Whilst on this subject ; is it possible to change the fuel filter on the D4 without using a hoist?
i contemplated doing it out in the paddock, but the thought of sneaking home with diesel dripping off my shirt didn’t seem right now that I am a retired gentleman, as opposed to a grubby farmer.

Yep. When travelling I try and buy from truck stops. Highest turnover of the lot. Locally, there's an Apollo near me that is always cheaper, sometimes by as much as 30c pl. after the majors have a "parity" price hike ( I've seen 50c on petrol ). It has a decent turnover simply due to this.
