Is it 43 degrees outside?
Hi Guys
Any ideas why my air con takes a while to kick in.When it does it’s cool enough.
Thanks

The compressor has a control valve that fails in it. Mine is now at the point that sometimes it'll stop cooling at random. I'm going to replace the whole compressor. Since have had just the valve done with success. Done have not. Mine is 10 years old. So it's at the time anyway
What year is yours?
Had the problem with my 2013 - service topped up gas but didn’t really fix it.
Had the option to get compressor replaced under extended warranty so had that done.

I think josh,s take on it is right,I’m up for a new compressor
I can't find a filter or drier on my car at all. Even though I have one for a discovery 4 in the shed. My take is the components that are controlled by the valve. Swash plate etc are sticking due to age and contamination.
Same symptoms as the early failures. But we are both getting on in age
Where does this mysterious AC valve that fails live in the system and is it easily available from AF or similar? Do you need to evacuate system to change it?
It’s in the side of the compressor. You have to get them from AC suppliers. Yes you have to discharge and recharge, and it only helps occasionally.
Edit: it’s the compressor’s variable displacement control valve, as the compressor is designed to vary its capacity and cooling rather than turn on and off like in the old days.
