That's why I'm keeping mine.. If it dies now. It's old age not manufacturing defect

As discussed I don't think it was a GAP tool issue, I'm going to fork out the big bucks and get a GAP tool for the workshop as it seems to be able to offer a lot of functionality that other more expensive diagnostic tools wont do. MORE importantly their product support seems to be good, from info gathered here.
As I mentioned to Gav, I do tend to plug in diagnostic gear on the fly on most vehicles I work on all the time, but I'm not casual about it and do it with purpose and visually looking at the plug, I dont plug it in using braille.
*I wouldn't have said "he quickly ascertained" more like as someone else said "a sleepless night thinking about other peoples problems" but other peoples problems are my customers with vehicle faults.
*Like any software its only actually engineered to work a percentage of times and the fact that really on the whole software is generally on the lower end of issues.
*While I've not had the kvm module or part of it lock up on a D4, I have had Range Rovers in the past that did this due to other module on the can bus fail.
*Dont know why the hard reset doesnt always work, but removing the fuse for the kvm module does work unless of course its a fault with other modules as above, which would have been the next course of action.
*Cant / wont help with non-related vehicle issues (brides etc etc) because if I say "naaa should be good now, its all sorted" the next time (something goes wrong) I will be in the same boat as the D4 owner.
ho hum such is life.
*I dont think there is any other intermittent problem (without the fact that it's a D4).
*Wasnt so brilliant from where I was sitting, everytime I reduce the breakdown or problem vehicles here, something else takes its place.
*Currently have a ZERO list of breakdowns/problematic vehicles, just lots of Defenders for the Defender upgrade list.
Mike, I'm usually the eternal hoarder (with a full 40' x 9'6" high seatainer to prove it) and normally the 2.7 would have just about seen me out, which was my intention. I'd much rather repair than replace until it becomes truly uneconomic - I still have T shirts from 40 years ago and the shoes I got married in 48 years ago[bigwhistle].
But, happy wife ......
Just got back from a quiet lunch in the Swan Valley - 7.7l/100 km on the dial - even though probably wildly optimistic, never saw anything like that with the 2.7 and 'er indoors had a lovely siesta on the way back with me sitting on 100 in the Roe Highway bits that aren't under reconstruction.
[QUOTE=gavinwibrow;3063495]Yep. This is a terrible way for Dazza to about to find out that he has a new car to play with, but have just bought a local 16.5?
Shouldn't that be 16.1 Gavin as Jan is the first month of the year? Mine was built June 2016 so I've always thought of it as being a 16.5. Or am I doing things wrong?
