That's for the trailer stop light circuit. It won't help the D4 recognise that the trailer is connected.

Here's how I did mine......
Installed two Resistors on the Indicator wires.....fixed to a small piece of RHS Aluminium cause they get hot under load....(not sure if that's the ACTUAL link to the ones I bought, but very similar)
7 Pin fits into the 12 pin just as well as the 12pin....

Here's the D4 12s/12n set up for your wiring....in case anyone needs it on this thread.

I installed the Redarc brake controller on my previous Mitsi Challenger, but had the Tow Pro Elite installed by the dealer when I picked it up.....I wasn't that keen on drilling holes in the dash of my brand new baby haha :)
Righto, got all the cables run down to the back of the car and was going swimmingly until I read the circuit diagram as provided in the Sticky document and looked at the trailer wiring. They are different. Instructions says there should be a black and a brown wire. I have a brown and yellow with brown trace, no black wire. Is there a different circuit diagram for an MY16?Any ideas or better still is there a sparky in Perth that has done a Towpro install I can take it to?

This is from Scott's post #506 in the brake controller sticky:-
D4 Electric Trailer Brake Wiring
The splice that I think you want is usually hidden behind a loom label in that cubby area.
Pete
I have a MY16, in the passenger side compartment of the boot area the splice is covered with a white label that needs to be removed. Once removed you’ll see a brown wire running into the black splice then both black and brown wires coming out the other endhttps://www.aulro.com/mobile-gallery...9ce726aa37.jpghttps://www.aulro.com/mobile-gallery...afb8d6a2a8.jpg
Ah ok. Haven't done that bit.
