That’s how the front pads were on my MY14. I’d guess it’s used to reduce vibration, but don’t know for sure.
I’ve just replaced the front rotors and brake pads in my 2010 D4 TD 3.0
Should I be concerned that the new Bendix brake pads had no round lug at one end on one of the old pads. The other end of this pad has a hole that looks like it should have another lug?

I'm just about to change the front pads as they're getting near the mark. Looking through my service record and the indys invoices it doesn't look like they've ever been done so 93K on them wgich isn't bad at all. I changed the rears at 63K and used Bendix and they're wearing well so may go for them again for the front.
Bit of brake dust doesn't bother me as it soon comes off with all the other stuff it collects on our trips.

Nope, no need to worry, some brands do, some don't. Just make sure the pads go in the right orientation (some have a relief chamber for dust and dirt and that the tabs on the ends of the pads engage with the recess in the caliper and that the spring steel clip goes back on. My current TRW D-Cotec have the round lug, the bendix 4x4 pads before that did not.
DJ, can you send me a link for where you get the Akebonos F and Rear from please. About 50% through the TRW's. Rotor wear is excellent compared to the Bendix and DBA combo.
