    Geez,thats really bad luck.

Hope everything works out,in the end.

Just for others, many vehicle insurance companies, in the exclusions in their disclosure statement, note the vehicle is not covered if driven into water..

Oh,and a Prado, one of my brothers ordered one 3 weeks ago, six months wait

You start off with a vehicle that qualifies with S......s, i.e 20 whatever years old, and then take out the optional 'salvage' deal which doesn't cost much at all. (If it gets written off you get the carcass back for nix from memory).

It appears from their current SDS that this only applies to 35+ yo vehicles atm, but it might be worth enquiring about additional vehicles on the policy.

They wouldn't cover a new 50k road registered Deutz tractor a few years ago, but someone else did for $280 full comprehensive.

    It’s a statutory write off so can’t be re-registered
Why was it declared a Statutory Write Off as opposed to a "Repairable write off"?

Apparently some government system that insurance companies need to use automatically determine this as soon as ‘submerged in water’ is listed as a cause

Has something to do with concerns re future glitches in safety systems due to wiring harnesses, sensors etc being submerged

I read an article a year or so ago that basically said with the amount of electrics in modern cars , once they receive any form of water damage they are written off to stop the continuing claims that they could attract if allowed to be re registered.
