Geez for $2200 i'd just stick a tablet in front of the original and call it done.
I know there are a million threads on here about this.
But I did one of these the other week, so here's my take.
- you don't need any connects2 kit.
- original screen is relocated to behind the glovebox, still "works" via the button panel to set date & time, and whatever else there is.
- if you only have rear parking sensors, then there is no need for any hacks or whatever.
- steering wheel controls work with the new head unit, the head unit drives the factory amp.
There is some cutting & crafting involved, to make the double din fit into the original frame, and to make space behind for depth clearance.
One of my colleagues made the wiring harness so it's more or less plug & play. This harness which includes the steering wheel control adaptor is $550
I used an Alpine ilx702d head unit, which has all the features you want, and fits the depth without too much drama, retail for $799
Reverse camera is $60
6hrs to install head unit & camera, $792
So $2200 all done incl GST.
It's about as close as you'll get to good.
